UNCA Trophy and Weather Challenge.

 I have been competing in the Weather Challenge every semester. UNCA placed 20th in the Nation, 5 spots ahead of NC State and 10 spots ahead of UNC Charlotte. UNCA has the Tobacco Trophy back this semester.

While the regular season has ended, the WxChallenge is not over for some of UNCA’s top forecasters. Participants who forecasted in both the Fall and Spring contests are eligible for the Individual Tournament, which features:

No additional cost to participate

Awards for the top four finishers of the tournament

A single forecast city for the duration of the tournament: Joplin, Missouri

Those not competing in the tournament are still welcome to continue forecasting for Joplin if they wish, though it is now optional. There will be no additional regular-season forecast cities until next fall.

The five UNCA forecasters competing in the tournament are:

As you can see, I'm in the top 5 UNCA students for the Individual Tournament. Monday, March 30th, 2026, I hit rank 3 in the Weather Challenge, the highest rank yet. Just getting into the playoffs for this challenge is a win, even if I don't win the tournament.
